Once they shut it down, it will never return.

Alaska’s fisheries are the backbone of our economy:

  • Tens of thousands of jobs are supported by our fisheries, directly and indirectly.
  • Freight and shipping rely on fish containers going out, so vital goods can come in affordably.
  • Alaska’s seafood industry delivers approximately $5.6 billion in economic output and $2.2 billion in wages statewide.
  • Processors won’t be spared. Seafood processing is Alaska’s largest manufacturing sector, employing twice as many workers as all other manufacturing types combined.

When you attack the fishing economy, you raise the cost of living for every Alaskan.
